Arad Day celebrated in Pécs with a successful exhibition

Last week, the traditional “Arad Day” was celebrated in Pécs, Hungary — an event that helps strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two communities.

The visit program opened with the vernissage of the watercolor exhibition “Metamorphosis – Shadows on Paper,” hosted by the House of Civil Communities in Pécs, featuring works by Arad artist Ileana Szabo. The exhibition was a real success and brought together art lovers and representatives of both communities.

The Arad delegation was led by local councilor Decebal Fordon, a member of the Arad Municipal Local Council. The guests from Arad were received with particular warmth by Zag Gábor, deputy mayor of Pécs, who thanked both local administrations for their support in carrying out the program, as well as everyone who contributes year after year to strengthening cooperation between the two cities.

During the event, councilor Decebal Fordon stressed the importance of the relationship between Arad and Pécs, noting that in only two years the two municipalities will mark 20 years of twinning. “It will be two decades in which culture, people, and joint projects have brought us ever closer,” said the representative of the Arad administration.

After the opening, the Arad delegation was invited to Pécs City Hall, where discussions were held on prospects and new opportunities for cooperation between the two municipalities.

The event was organized through collaboration between the two city halls and municipal cultural centers, reaffirming the important role of culture in developing relations between Arad and Pécs.

Works by Arad artist Ileana Szabo can be visited in Pécs until 15 October 2026.
